A pattern with centuries behind it.
Kawung is one of the oldest geometric motifs in Indonesian batik — four overlapping ovals arranged around a central point, echoing the cross-section of the kawung palm fruit. For generations it carried meaning reserved for Javanese royal courts: purity, symmetry, and self-mastery, worn only by those who had earned the right to wear it.
ALODD Kawung is our first design to carry this signature — reimagined not in cloth, but laser-etched directly into premium leather. The same discipline that has always guided Indonesian batik artisans now guides our own: patience, precision, and respect for a motif far older than the brand that borrows it.
The Process
From etching to construction, by hand.
The Kawung motif is laser-etched onto the leather upper before construction begins.
Every piece is then hand-finished in Italy, following the same Blake construction as the rest of the collection.
